HEY, I'M STEPHANIE!

I'm a nature-based blogger and content creator sharing about my love of the ocean, travel, conservation, and slow living

A little about my story....

If you’re new here, welcome. I’m so grateful you’ve found your way to this space!
My story begins with the ocean.
Long before I had language for conservation or sustainability, I felt an innate love for nature. The ocean has always been where I feel most at home. Growing up in San Diego, I was constantly drawn to the water. Even when I was just learning to walk, I wanted to be at the beach. My aunt lovingly called me “the water baby,” and she was right - the ocean was my first love.
As a little girl, I was enchanted by dolphins, mermaids, and the mysteries of the sea. I covered my bedroom walls with photos of marine life, begged for surf lessons, and proudly told anyone who would listen that I would grow up to be a marine biologist and save the ocean. The water was where I felt most alive, most free.
But as I got older, life happened. My family moved to Chicago, I went to college, followed a corporate path, and slowly drifted away from that part of myself.

Like so many of us, I learned to hustle, to achieve, to perform. Somewhere along the way, I forgot the girl who once felt so deeply connected to the sea....
As life grew louder and faster, I began to notice how disconnected we had become - from the land beneath our feet, from wildlife, and from nature itself. I felt that disconnection within myself, too.
Returning to nature became my way back.

It took years and a deep commitment to my healing for me to remember. To peel back the layers of who I thought I should be and reconnect with who I truly am underneath the noise.
By slowing down and listening to the ocean and the land, I began to understand that caring for the planet begins with our
relationship to it.
What started as a personal devotion evolved into purpose.

Today, I share my life and work as a bridge between people, the ocean, and the Earth.

Through storytelling, mindful living, and environmental advocacy, I invite others to reconnect with nature through presence, curiosity, and love. I believe that when we remember our place within the natural world, compassion naturally follows - for ourselves, for wildlife, and for the planet we call home.
My work is rooted in the belief that healing and conservation are intertwined. When we live more slowly and listen more deeply, we don’t just change how we move through the world - we begin to protect what we love.
As a certified scuba diver, freediver, and conservation advocate, my mission is simple: to inspire deeper connection - with ourselves, each other, and the natural world.
I believe mermaids are real, and they live within all of us. They are the dreamers, the leaders, the protectors of the sea, those who feel most alive near the water and are called to care for our blue planet. And if you are a mermaid at heart, ready to stand up for this beautiful Earth that we share and speak in service of something greater than yourself, know that your voice matters!
Even the smallest, most intentional choices can create powerful ripples of change for the planet we love. Together we can become the change this world so deeply needs!
This blog is where I share personal stories of nature connection, conservation, travel, and slow, sustainable living.

Whether you’re here to read, reflect, or connect with like-minded souls choosing a more intentional way of being, I’m honored to walk this path alongside you.
